GHRP-6 peptide (Growth hormone-releasing peptide-6) is synthetic analogue of endogenous opioid peptide met-enkephalin, includes unnatural D-amino acids, and belongs to the growth hormone secretagogues group and its ghrelin receptor agonists subgroup. Growth hormone secretagogues (GHS) lack opioid activity but are powerful stimulants of growth hormone production. Simultaneously GHS are distinct from growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) in that they share no sequence relation and derive their function through activation of a completely different receptor – growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR; or often called simple as ghrelin receptor). Natural endogenous ligand of Growth hormone secretagogue receptors is endogenous hormone Ghrelin. All ghrelin receptor agonists act as synthetic ghrelin mimetics. It is structurally very similar to its predecessor GHRP-2 peptide.

Ghrelin

Ghrelin (often called also as a “hunger hormone”) is endogenous hormone produced by enteroendocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract, especially the stomach. Blood levels of ghrelin are highest before meals when hungry, and low after mealtimes. Ghrelin helps prepare for food intake by increasing gastric motility and gastric acid secretion. But Ghrelin also activates cells in the anterior pituitary gland and hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (including neuropeptide Y neurons that initiate appetite). Ghrelin binds to specific receptor – the growth hormone secretagogue receptor 1A (GHSR-1A), and stimulate GH secretion, but also is involved in other important functions – regulation of reward cognition, learning and memory, the sleep-wake cycle, taste sensation, reward behavior, and glucose metabolism.

GROWTH HORMONE SECRETAGOGUE RECEPTOR

The ghrelin receptor GHSR-1A (a splice-variant of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, with the GHS-R1b splice being inactive) is involved in mediating a wide variety of biological effects of ghrelin, such as: stimulation of growth hormone release, increase in hunger, modulation of glucose and lipid metabolism, regulation of gastrointestinal motility and secretion, protection of neuronal and cardiovascular cells, and regulation of immune function. They are present in high density in the hypothalamus and pituitary, on the vagus nerve (on both afferent cell bodies and efferent nerve endings) and throughout the gastrointestinal tract.

GHRP-2 VS GHRP-6

Like the GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 peptides themselves, their effects are also very similar. However the GHRP-2 peptide does not tend to evoke as strong a feeling of increased hunger as GHRP-6 does. However, at higher doses, GHRP-2 may lead to a marked increase in cortisol and prolactin production.

Peptides Prefer the Cold

Keep peptide vials refrigerated at all times to reduce peptide bond breakdown. DO NOT FREEZE. Most peptides, especially shorter ones, can be preserved for weeks if careful.

Always swab the top of the vial with an alcohol wipe, rubbing alcohol or 95% ethanol before use.

Before drawing solution from any dissolved peptide vial, fill the pin with air to the same measurement you will be filling with solution, ie. if you plan to take 0.1 ml, first fill the pin with 0.1ml of air, push the air into the vial, and then draw the peptide back up to the 0.1 ml marker. Doing so will maintain even pressure in the vial. Always remember to remove air bubbles from the pin by flicking it gently, needle side up, and pushing bubbles out. In addition, push out a tiny amount of solution to ensure there is no air left in the metal tip.

 

Only Mix With Sterile Bacteriostatic Water

The purity and sterility of bacteriostatic water are essential to prevent contamination and to preserve the shelf-life of dissolved peptides.

Push the pin through the rubber stopper at a slight angle, so that you inject the bacteriostatic water toward the inside wall of the vial, not directly onto the powder.

Lyophilized peptide should be stored at -20°C (freezer), and the reconstituted peptide solution at 4°C (refrigerated). Do not freeze once reconstituted.
